установил себе намедни debian etch...
всё хорошо, только иксы не запускаются я сам настроить не могу, ибо не умею, даже не знаю с чего начать
вот содержимое xorg.0.log - я очень надеюсь что по нему можно определить что не так...

чувствую себя беспросветным ламером
xserver-xorg-video-nv в системе стоит, однако modprobe его не может включить в ядро, говорит, мол, не найден.
думаю insmod'ом воткнуть, но не знаю где эти модули лежат (если есть вообще)
офф дрова с нвидии не встают, ругаются на много чего...
BusID именно 5 (lspci выдает 5:0.0)
кстати, про lspci, он мне выдает только строку с видеокартой, про дисплей как в примере ничего нету

На что родной драйвер с нвидии ругается?
установи новое ядро, 2.6.16-2 (оно же 2.6.16-18, сейчав в Etch) и header файлы к нему.
# apt-get install linux-headers-2.6.16-2-686 linux-image-2.6.16-2-686
если ядро пересобирал сам, то сорцы и так стоят.

ок, на 7600GT 2 головы, причем при подключении одновременно двух мониторов второй строки всеравно нет... мож у меня что с картой?

module assistant мне не помог, тоже на что-то ругнулся, вроде-бы на отсутствие исходных текстов модуля nvidia
дрова с офсайта говорят:
1. no precomplied interface was found, пробуем качать? (инета пока нет, тоже настраивать буду - DSL-200)
2. ругаются на версию gcc (ядро собрано gcc 4.0, в системе gcc 4.1 поэтому no warranties...)
3. инсталлер вылетает (не может включить модуль в ядро)
может мне руками ядро пересобрать с добавлением всего нужного? только как? =)
у меня рядом комп старый, но рабочий, я могу на нем поставить инет с аськой чтобы сразу всё попробовать (естессно если есть время и желание )

/usr/bin/gcc - символическая ссылка на /usr/bin/gcc-4.1 удали ссылку и сделай на gcc-4.0 (ln -s /path /path) порядок путей не помню, что первым, что вторым. Но в одном случае создаст, в другом скажет что существует. Не покалечишь ничего. Думаю и проблема с добавлением драйвера может решиться. С другой стороны lsmod еще раз попробуй, вполне возможно что драйвер то встал уже

Рабочи конфиг xorg.conf для видеокарт nvidia сдвумя мониторами (в примере это два LCD 17") отрисовка работет быстрее чем при использовании xinerama.
Конфиг работает в Debian Sid.
